The first interactive online aircraft insurance service in the world has been launched by the British Aviation Insurance Group.
It offers instant cover for most kinds of light aircraft. Private helicopters can also be insured online.
Peter Butler, underwriting executive, said: “It offers brokers the chance to arrange insurance quickly and efficiently from the first enquiry to making an application and, if it happens, to make a claim – all taking place online. The paperwork that is presently involved will be reduced to an absolute bare minimum.”
The process from application to completion normally takes a matter of minutes.
A 24-hour telephone helpline supports the online service. Policies can also be amended over the internet and an email is sent to brokers 60 days before renewal is due.
