Accrington-based insurance broker Sagar Insurances said its 20-year-old employee, Jason Lewicki, had recently qualified as, possibly, the youngest person in the UK to gain a modern apprenticeship in insurance.

Lewicki, who left school with 9 GCSEs, joined Sagar as a modern apprentice in August 1997.

To date he has gained an NVQ Level 2 & Level 3 in Insurance, NVQ Level 3 in Customer Services and the Insurance Foundation Certificate.

Professional Development Services (PDS), a specialist training provider for the insurance industry, undertook his formal training.

Lewicki said: "When I left school I wanted a professional career but I wanted to be in a work environment rather than in classroom so I decided to do a modern apprenticeship.

"I chose this route because I knew it would provide me with valuable and practical experience, undergo training leading to formal qualifications and what's more I would be earning at the same time."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
