Taxi insurance specialist J & M Insurance has acquired High Wycombe based taxi broker Sunrise Insurance.

Established in 1999 by Mohammed Afzal, Sunrise has a portfolio of general insurance that includes public and private hire business and a number of SME commercial clients.

Afzal has been retained by J & M and will be responsible for developing sales with the existing client base and new clients in the High Wycombe area. The Sunrise Insurance brand will be retained.

J & M claims to be the UK's largest taxi broker and the acquisition of Sunrise further consolidates its market leading position.

J & M's chief operating officer, Paul Dodds, said: "Our strategy is focused on the acquisition and growth of specialist brokers, particularly those in the public and private hire sectors or SME commercial sector.

"We have advanced discussions with a number of other brokers and expect to make more announcements in the coming weeks."

He added: "We are delighted with the acquisition of Sunrise as it is a good fit with our existing business model. Afzal is very well connected with the taxi trade in his locality. By joining J & M he can now concentrate on serving clients whilst the back office is taken care of through our Epping ‘hub'."
