The results of the Lord Chancellor's investigation into claims assessors will be presented 'within weeks', a spokesman for the office said.

The investigation was launched by Lord Irvine last June because of concerns about whether assessors were providing customers with value for money.

The original deadline for presentation of the report was late 1999 or early 2000. However, the investigating committee asked for more time to deliberate.

That report has now been completed and the Lord Chancellor's office is awaiting a Government response before publishing the findings.
