Biba has appointed two new members, Patrick Smith, chief executive of Swinton Group, and John McLaren-Stewart, chief executive of Alliance Corporate Risk Management, to its board, effective from January 2006.

Biba said that in addition to their roles on the Board, both new members will have additional responsibilities linked to their core areas of expertise.

Consequently, Patrick Smith will chair a new BIBA focus group concentrating on market issues concerning personal lines business.

Meanwhile, John McLaren-Stewart will represent the BIBA Heart of England regional constituency, replacing Clive King of C R King & Partners.

The appointments follow the formation of another focus group for large regional brokers, who are represented on the Biba board by Alec Finch. The Association's smaller members will continue to be represented on the Board by Mike Slack and Pauline Quayle.
