Do you brighten a room when you walk in, or when you leave?
That was the question posed to delegates by Cranfield Business School lecturer Roy Sheppard at the Network to Win seminar.
Sheppard told delegates that who you know is the difference between a successful business and a really successful business.
"Networking," he said, "was about being known, liked and trusted."
Sheppard outlined four main steps to the art of networking. Be prepared - find out who will be at networking events and do some research. Be interested in people when you talk to them - do not try too hard to be interesting. Remember people's name. Follow up conversations and nurture the relationship.
