BMS has appointed Alexander Johnston as non-executive chairman following the retirement of Graham McKean, one of the original founders.

Johnston, who is already a non-executive director of BMS, is due to start his new role on 1st January 2007, according to the reinsurance intermediary.

John Spencer, CEO at BMS, said: “Graham has been an integral part of BMS and its success for 26 years. We are very grateful for his commitment and unique contribution to the business, and we wish him a long and enjoyable retirement.

“We are delighted to welcome Alexander as chairman. With his many years at Lazard, where he was a managing director, he brings a wealth of experience and an invaluable external perspective to our organisation.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
