NIG has announced two new appointments to its underwriting & pricing team.

John Inwood has been named head of complex SME underwriting and David Cahoon head of SME packages and home underwriting. Both will report to director of underwriting & pricing, Steve Kingshott.

Inwood joins NIG from Zurich where he was head of casualty for Zurich Global Corporate UK. He has over 15 years' experience in various senior underwriting roles for both Zurich and previously Sun Alliance.

Cahoon joins NIG from Provident Insurance Plc where he was sales and marketing director. He has spent the last 16 years in a variety of regional management roles both in personal and commercial lines for CU, CGU and NU.

Kingshott said: “We are naturally delighted to have John and David join us as part of our ongoing investment in our Underwriting team in central London and across the UK. Between them they bring a wealth of experience to NIG from a technical perspective and are both well respected in two of our key markets.”

NIG gets team boost

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
