Brit Insurance Holdings has appointed medical underwriter, Mark Cassidy, to its team as it expands into US aggregate medical lines.

The appointment forms part of Brit's plan to expand into US medical lines. It claims the sector will account for £30m of its premium income during the next 12 months.
Cassidy is currently underwriter at Lloyd's Syndicate 5000 where he has worked for over 20 years.
Brit Syndicates chief executive Dane Douetil said: "We are delighted that Mark is joining the underwriting team of Brit Insurance at a time when market conditions play to the strength of our balance sheet and the quality of our underwriting teams."
