Backlash to' making brokers rich' remark
Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) broker boss Paul Donaldson’s quip that he would “make brokers rich” certainly caught people’s attention, including that of his bosses, it seems.
Readers may recall that Donaldson announced his plans for enriching R&SA’s loyal brokers at a dinner at last year’s Biba conference.
The line, it seems became quite notorious. Even Andy Haste, R&SA’s group chief executive took note – no doubt keen to keep a hold on the insurer’s expense base.
Donaldson told Backchat: “Andy Haste told me he wanted my head, and shareholders wanted my balls.”
Backchat presumes Haste was only joking – Donaldson still has a head and his voice is not falsetto.
