Bob Bullivant is to be the new managing director of the CII's financial services arm, the Society of Financial Advisors, with effect from 23 February 2004.
CII director general Sandy Scott said: "Bob is a highly respected figure in the financial services industry and will bring considerable technical and market knowledge to both SOFA and to the CII director team.
"A key aspect of his role will be to build on the success of SOFA and to develop the value of its membership proposition."
Bullivant will report directly to Scott, and will join the CII board of directors, as well as becoming a member of the SOFA board.
He succeeds Brian Lawless, who has relocated to Exeter and become business development director with the Jelf Group.
