John Finnegan is set to replace Chubb chief executive and president Dean O'Hare when he retires on 1 December.

Joel Cohen will also come in as non-executive chairman.

Previously, Finnegan was chairman and president of General Motors Acceptance. Mr Cohen was director of the insurer since 1984.

Finnegan said: "I intend to get up to speed quickly on the company and the industry so that we can tackle the issues that face the company head-on."

But the company faces long-term problems. Last week Chubb took a $625 million charge to beef up its asbestos reserves.

Thomas Motamed was also promoted to vice-chairman and chief operating officer and John Degnan and Michael O'Reilly to vice chairman.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
