ABI's guidance confuses.

Techie insurance news of the week must surely go to the ABI’s clarification of its fire guidance on sandwich panels.

For those who don’t know (where have you been?) there had been some confusion over the interpretation of the ABI’s guidance leading to the use of inappropriate panels.

The offending paragraph in the guidance reads: “External claddings that are LPCB approved to LPS 1181 can be regarded as satisfying the original grade 2 construction rules or be classed as a non-combustible building. [Note: This grading does not imply that the material is non-combustible].”

See what I mean?

The ABI is now working on improving the clarity of this paragraph. The Plain English Campaign should take note.
