Cartoon character agent-i could be the saviour of the high turnover and low morale in call centre staff.

This cartoon character, created by education company Unlimited, features in Unlimited's new training programme. This is designed to help call centre staff do their jobs better.

Head of learning and development Ian Elborn said: "It is a full training suite designed for call centre agents from induction to supervisor level."

The programme is currently undergoing accreditation by the Council for Further Education.

Elborn said the reception at the CII conference had been "very enthusiastic".

Elborn added: "Call centre agents often get bad press. 2%of the UK population work in call centres and it is not often treated as a career. We are looking to provide a vision to keep a career in call centres and empower the people."
