MIS Corporate Defence Solutions has designed a response to the recent spate of computer virus attacks such as the I Love You bug.
Its EssenceCover offers insurance for gross loss of revenue from sales and advertising as a result of breaches of a firm's internet security.
The company also provides financial assistance for companies in the event of a virus being caught or transmitted, to clean up both the insured's (first party) and customer's (third party) sites.
The cover is particularly needed by dotcom companies, whose business may be entirely based on the internet.
Maidstone-based MIS said the I Love You bug proved the effect of computer viruses can be catastrophic.
