DAS has applied for the Jobcentre Plus' Disability Symbol.

The legal expenses insurer is committed to employing a diverse workforce and fully supports the Disability Symbol's criteria regarding the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled employees.

DAS' HR manager, Jo Phillips, said: "We have been developing our procedures in line with good practice for many years and the commitment to the Disability Symbol criteria is a logical extension of this. It is as an aspect of risk prevention as much as it is morally justified. This is a great achievement for us and should mean that we can attract people to apply for jobs who may not have thought that DAS would be able to employ them. We are also better prepared to help staff if they become disabled during their employment".
