Oaktree Insurance Solutions has devised a scheme – Multi-Let – to include all types of property used to house asylum seekers.

Faced with the pressure of ever-increasing numbers of asylum seekers in the UK –currently rising at a rate of 6,000 a month – the Government and local councils have been forced to turn to private landlords and hoteliers in an attempt to provide housing until their cases are heard.

Mark Vaughan, the commercial insurance executive, said: “Many of the major insurers, worried by a variety of factors, are either refusing to quote or increasing their premiums substantially. It has left landlords in a limbo, with few places to go.”

He added: “We feel we can offer landlords and hoteliers the widest possible property insurance at extremely competitive prices.”
