Rachel Cheyne, WeatherNet

Explain briefly about your entry into the Excellence in Technology - Property Claims category.

WeatherNet has undergone a digital transformation. This award category provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the technological enhancements we’re bringing to the market as service providers.

Severe weather happens somewhere in the UK on 90% of days, but traditional weather stations often miss localised events. This makes it difficult to treat customers fairly, causing complaints, excess indemnity and unnecessary visits.

Accurate weather data for validation is essential as the industry looks to optimise claims journeys with rapid settlements.

Harnessing remotely sensed data, WeatherNet detects weather perils in real-time, covering all of the UK at a very high resolution.

We assimilate billions of postcode specific weather data into instantly actionable insights, refining triage and ensuring that we treat customers fairly.

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

WeatherNet is used and trusted by 90% of the UK insurance industry.

Clients already acknowledge our service as the stepping stone to storm claims automation, as well as first notification of loss (FNOL) and e-FNOL solutions.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

WeatherNet comprises nine enthusiastic meteorologists - we love what we do.

Delivering this service gives us a chance to indulge our passion while significantly improving the industry. Winning would be exciting and confirm that, despite being a small team, our impact isn’t unnoticed.
