Fortis Insurance has appointed Paul Chaplain as personal lines underwriting director.

In his new position Chaplain will be responsible for ensuring the company meets the expectations of its shareholders, and all regulatory obligations imposed on the general insurance market.

Chaplain is joining the company from National Insurance and Guarantee Corporation (NIG) where he was employed as managing director at Finsure Premium Finance, a wholly-owned subsidiary that provides finance for insurance products.

He has more than 20 years' experience in the market.

A Fortis spokesman commented: "Paul's expertise will continually ensure that Fortis Insurance's underwriting is maintained to a high standard."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
