Jacob Frenkel has been named a vice chairman of AIG, with immediate effect.
Frenkel will also serve as chairman of AIG's Global Economic Strategies Group, said the company.
Frenkel, who serves on the board of the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Institute of International Finance and the Institute for International Economics, is also chairman and chief executive of the Group of Thirty.
