Crime-buster caught out

Oh the irony. It emerged this week that crime busting former New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a high-class prostitution ring.

Spitzer, now governor of New York, seared his name across the insurance industry for his zealous pursuit of bid-rigging and unethical contingent commissions.

His name became synonymous with commission transparency and full disclosure.

It was alleged that FBI agents overheard Spitzer in conversation with an escort agency during a wire-tapping operation.

Spitzer, who apologised this week (without specifying what he was apologising for), did not deny the allegations.

Did someone say schadenfreude?
