Richard Gamble, the former group chief executive of Royal & SunAlliance, has been named as the new executive chairman of Highway Insurance.
The change comes following the resignation of executive chairman Ross Dunlop today.
Peter Salsbury, the former chief executive of Marks & Spencer, has been appointed as deputy chairman.
Interim chief financial officer Arthur Milton, who was appointed following the departure of group finance director Ian Patrick earlier this year, has been named as Patrick's permanent replacement.
In addition, David Barker and Judy Kellie have rejoined the Highway Insurance board as non-executive directors.
Chris Hill, managing director of Highway Insurance and Paul Cosh, managing director of Highway Retail, continue in their roles.
Highway also confirmed that the company is seeking to appoint a new chief executive in the near future, at which time Richard Gamble will become non-executive chairman.
Richard Gamble said: "Today's restructuring of the board and the appointment of Arthur Milton as group finance director represent the first stages in strengthening the team that will drive the business forward.
"Highway has made significant advances over the last four years and our role is to sustain the momentum in the next stage of its development."
