GE Financial Insurance Europe (GEFI Europe) has agreed a three-year contract with Help the Aged to provide a bespoke "ageless" travel insurance policy.

GEFI Europe is part of GE Insurance Holdings, the European arm of the US-based consumer insurance and investment group GE Financial.

It is one of the largest suppliers of travel insurance in the UK.

GEFI Europe managing director Bill Goings said: "Specifically for Help the Aged customers, the standard policy has been designed with no age restriction and to provide policyholders with reassurance that if something does go wrong, financial and medical help is available immediately, 24 hours a day."

The policy includes a maximum of £2m to cover emergency medical expenses and emergency transport outside the UK. Up to £2m is available to cover personal liability claims.

It also provides a "homewatch" facility of up to £350, to cover any emergency repairs that are required while the policyholder is on holiday.

Help the Aged insurance manager Andy Alden said: "It is one of our key strategic aims to allow older people more active and fulfilled lives by removing the major barrier of ageism.

"Older people want to travel further and for longer. We are pleased that together with GEFI Europe we are able to offer a comprehensive travel insurance policy regardless of age."

The policy was arranged through Marsh Affinity, a provider of branded consumer insurance programmes.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
