This season’s version of Fantasy Premier League has also been relaunched on the official website, meaning that players can begin to think about their squads, look at fixtures and decide on hilarious team names – look out for a ranking of the insurance industry’s most creative names before the season starts.
Two of the Premier League’s best players – Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah and City striker Erling Haaland – have had their prices released, with the high-scoring attackers set to cost £14.5m and £14m respectively. Salah smashed the Fantasy points record for a season last year, hitting 344 across the season.
But, while attackers may generate most of your points, the Premier League has also announced changes to how players are rewarded points. Defenders will now be given two points if they reach a combined total of 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles.
Midfielders and forwards will also have ball recoveries counted towards this total, but will have to reach a total of 12 actions to garner the extra two points. Assists have also been simplified, meaning that attackers are more likely to be awarded the three points that come with creating a goal.
Another change announced to the game will also see managers given two wildcard, free hit, triple captain and bench boost chips – one for each half of the season. The first set of chips will have to be played before gameweek 19 begins on 30 December.
