A guide to this week's movements in the insurance industry

Benfield
Benfield has announced the appointment of Honor Jones and James Lyndon-Stanford to its global facultative solutions team.

Jones has 14 years' insurance experience and was most rec-ently a member of the North American property team at Aon, where she specialised in US facultative accounts.

Lyndon-Stanford has 16 years' experience in the property and energy facultative market.

He was previously a divisional director at HSBC Insurance Brokers, responsible for broking onshore energy and property risks.

Lockton
Lockton has appointed Louise Lanaghan and Allison Robinson to its specialist tenants' insurance service, based in Newcastle.

Lanaghan joins as director of the housing sector practice and will be responsible for the development of tenant's contents insurance schemes and other housing products.

She has 14 years' tenants' contents insurance experience.

Robinson joins Lockton as account manager within the housing sector practice.

Her role will be managing the client accounts for tenants' insurance schemes and other associated products.

They both join from Marsh.

Insurer

Sterling Insurance
Sterling Insurance Group has appointed James Guthrie as senior development manager within its household division.

Guthrie will be responsible for managing client relationships, including developing high net worth opportunities via different distribution channels, with the emphasis on UK brokers.

Guthrie joins from Oak Underwriting where he was associate director of agency development, responsible for developing key broker accounts.

NIG
Michael Rea has been appointed to the new role of director of NIG.

Rea was formerly finance director at NIG.

Ace Global Markets
Ace Global Markets has appointed two new underwriters to its aviation department.

Mark Adams has been appointed senior underwriter and Richard Bayman joins as underwriter.

Adams joins from RJ Kiln. where he was an underwriter within its aviation division.

He will be responsible for the management and development of Ace's general aviation and hull war portfolio.

Bayman also joins from RJ Kiln, where he was an aviation underwriter.

Legal

Eversheds
Eversheds Insurance Group has appointed Paul Castellani as a partner in its professional indemnity team.

Castellani has been with the firm for six years.

Other

Helphire
Helphire Group has appointed Sean Morris as group compensation and benefits manager.

He will be responsible for advising on Helphire's salaries and incentive programmes, as well as managing the group's benefits schemes.

EMB
EMB has promoted Anju Bell and Dave Baldwin to directors.

Bell, who joined the firm as a graduate trainee in 1996, leads a team of actuarial consultants.

Baldwin joined EMB in 2005, following 13 years in UK general insurance in actuarial, statistical and analytical roles.

Davies Liability
Davies Liability has pro-moted Jason Miles to director.

Miles previously managed Davies' Reading-based dedicated liability office, where he specialised in employers' liability, public liability and products liability claims.

Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander
Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander has appointed Simon Heath as deputy head of operations.

He will manage the new business team responsible for processing loan applications and the customer relations team. In addition, Heath will be responsible for service delivery to brokers.

Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander has also appointed Stephen Stableford as regional sales manager (north), Colin McKenzie as sales manager (Scotland and Northern Ireland) and Louise Mew, sales manager (south east).

Whittington Group
Whittington Group has appointed Ross Bundey as group general counsel with overall responsibility for all legal matters, corporate secretarial work and worldwide regulatory compliance.

He will be based in Singapore and will report to group chief executive Tony Hobrow.

Bundey joins Whittington from Clifford Chance.
