Litigation Protection
Jon Handley has been appointed as financial controller at Litigation Protection. Handley is a qualified accountant with ten years' experience. John Bradbury has been appointed as clinical negligence underwriting manager. He is a qualified solicitor and has specialised in personal injury and clinical negligence law. He previously worked in private practice, but has worked in national firms as well as AVMA. Simon Bannister has been appointed head of information technology. He has more than 15 years' experience in the IT industry.

AWAC
J. Michael Baldwin has been appointed as manager of the London management office of the new Bermuda-based insurer/reinsurer Allied World Assurance Company (AWAC). He joined Chubb in 1972 and has more than 30 years' experience in the industry. Previously he was a senior vice president of Chubb Insurance of Europe and European manager of Chubb's commercial insurance division.

Chubb Europe
Sajjad Jaffer joins Chubb Europe as marine liability manager in the UK marine department based at Lloyd's of London. He joins from Markel International, where he spent the last four years as a marine liability underwriter. For 16 years before that he was director of marine liabilities at the Alexander Howden Group.

Allianz Cornhill
The southern regional team has the following changes: in London, Stephen Pierce and Adrian Burgess have been appointed as senior business development underwriters; Mark Smith becomes senior business development underwriter based at the Woking office; and business development underwriter Alan Tucker also moves to Woking. In Maidstone, Chris Ferguson has been promoted to senior business development underwriter.

Hiscox Syndicate 33
Hiscox Syndicate 33 has appointed Philip Perry as underwriter for fire and property. Perry joins Philip Sexton to underwrite the account for Hiscox in Lloyd's. Perry, who originally joined Hiscox Syndicate 33 ten years ago, returns to the Lloyd's market after spending two years working in the commercial property market for the Hiscox Insurance Company.

Beazley
Lloyd's managing agency Beazley has appointed Gaynore Moss as Syndicate Actuary for Beazley Syndicate 623. Gaynore, who has over ten years' experience in the actuarial profession, joins Beazley after two years at Deloitte & Touche.

Resolve International
Resolve International are pleased to announce that barrister Darren Snow has joined the company's liability division, specifically to focus on professional indemnity and product liability. Snow has worked in the insurance industry for 12 years and is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Budget
Insurance intermediary Budget Group has appointed Andrew Perry as regional manager for the London and South regions of the Budget Retail network. He has more than 20 years' experience and was a director for an independent general insurance broker.

Smart & Cook
Lisa Hartill joins Smart & Cook Group as its first solicitor and will coordinate all legal affairs for the group and its subsidiaries. Hartill joined the company in October from private practice and also has several years of in-house experience gained from working with BT.

THB
THB board director Frank Murphy has been appointed chief operating officer. Murphy joined THB in 1999.

GE Frankona Re
GE Frankona Re has appointed Lee Lovett as managing director, UK life and health operations. Lovett joined GE Frankona Re in 1990, having worked previously with UNUM as underwriting manager. In 1997, he was appointed head of UK sales and was also a major contributor to the development and implementation of GE Frankona Re's management and cross-selling strategy.

Benfield Greig
Jakob Eugster joins reinsurance intermediary Benfield Greig München from 1 April 2002 as managing director. He takes over from Peter Freiherr von Wiedersperg, who will retire in February 2003. Eugster worked for 27 years at Swiss Re in Zurich. From 1998 to 2001 he was a member of the executive management team of its European division.

Swiss Re
Swiss Re's board of directors has appointed Chris C. Stroup and Martin Albers as members of the executive board. Stroup is president and CEO of Swiss Re Life & Health America. Albers is CEO of Swiss Reinsurance Company UK. Chief investment officer Giuseppe Benelli has also been appointed to the executive board committee. Jacques Dubois, member of the executive board and deputy head of life & health business group has been appointed chairman of Swiss Re America Holding Corporation.

TriSystems
TriSystems, the London Market Software company has appointed Paul Flury as product manager and Tracy Annison as a member of the product development team.

R3 Group
Affinity consultancy R3 Group, has appointed Phil Anthony to its team to work on R3's expanding Affinity Alliance operation. Anthony has more than 18 years' experience and has worked at Egg and AXA Insurance.

CII
The Chartered Insurance Institute has appointed Mike Orton FCPID as human resources director. He has 18 years' experience of human resources and training gained in the IT, services and professional services sectors.

FMS
Fraud Management Solutions (FMS) has been established to provide independent fraud solutions to all markets including finance and insurance. The directors are Clive Garton and Hazel Ansell. Garton has more than 22 years' experience in the business risk environment. He was sales manager for five years with IT solutions provider MCL Software. Ansell held senior management roles within the credit risk and fraud prevention areas of financial organisations for 16 years prior to joining MCL Software in 1995.
