St Paul has announced the appointment of Simon Sheaf to the position of UK actuary. He has 11 years' industry experience and joins from Tillinghast-Towers Perrin.

He will be based at St Paul's operational headquarters in Redhill, Surrey, and have responsibility for recommending the company's UK reserves.

Mondial Assistance
Mondial Assistance has appointed Stephen Madeley business development manager, joining its corporate and financial services division. He was previously with Allianz Cornhill and will focus on developing client relationships.

CETA
CETA has appointed Sandie Schofield as director of operations. The brief includes
the development of HR policies for the 60 staff at the firm's head office in Oxfordshire. Schofield has been with CETA since 1995.

Holman Insurance Brokers
Holman Insurance Brokers has announced the appointment of a new finance director to coincide with the expansion of its London office. Andrew Smith takes over from David Scales and has wide experience of Lloyd's broking finance as well as compliance, which he will also supervise at Holmans.

He will be overseeing the transfer of the accounts department to Holmans' City office, where it will be co-located with the operational divisions to create a more seamless service to Holman's 5,000 agents.

Jon Griggs has been appointed a director of the company, with special responsibilities for the commercial account. He has been with the company for 15 years.

Steve Howe has been appointed Manchester branch manager. He brings almost 20 years' experience as a loss adjuster to the role and will be responsible for maintaining the existing client base and identifying new business opportunities.

Securities and investment software solution specialist Mondas has announced the promotion of Jarlath McGee to chief operating officer. He was previously sales director and, prior to that, was with Thomson Financial. He has more than 20 years' IT sales management experience in the financial markets.

Janet Sherry has been appointed business development manager. Her role will be to develop new business opportunities for Stewart's MIMS and eMIMS risk management, claims handling and incident reporting software.

Silverstream
Silverstream Software has announced the appointment of Cyrus Gilbert-Rolfe as UK managing director. Based in the UK offices in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, he will report to Brussels-based vice president Michel Goossens. Prior to joining Silverstream, he worked for Bowstreet and has a broad range of experience in banking, internet and IT services.

James Chapman & Co
Manchester-based insurance litigation firm James Chapman & Co has offered legal training contracts to three graduates. Carol Purang, Matthew Davies and David Bentham have now started their two-year training to become fully-fledged solicitors.

Watson Wyatt
Watson Wyatt has made two new appointments. Karel Goossens joins the firm's Brussels office to spearhead a new insurance consulting division for the Belgian and Luxembourg markets. He was previously head of PricewaterhouseCooper's (PWC) insurance and benefits consulting team in Belgium. Jean Marc Bonifacio will lead the firm's insurance and financial services office in Paris. He has consulted to the French market for the past five years, most recently as the leader of PWC's Paris insurance team.

James Tattersall has been appointed managing director. He has been with the company since its inception six years ago.

Bank of Scotland
The Bank of Scotland is strengthening its insurance banking insurance division across the UK by appointing four new senior business insurance managers to meet the demands of the growing small to medium-sized enterprise market. Three are new recruits.

Manchester-based Colin Grant has been with Bank of Scotland for more than four years and will manage business in the North of England.

Karl King previously worked for Royal Bank Insurance Services and will be based in London's West End.

Steve Parkes, based in Birmingham and looking after the Midlands and East Anglia, has extensive insurance industry experience, including a period with Lloyds Bank Insurance Services.

Paul Bishop will be based in Reading and is responsible for the South of England. He was previously with Marsh and GE Financial Insurance.

Green Flag Group
Insurance solutions provider Green Flag Group has made two new appointments. Alison Brennan joins as client relationship manager, working in the company's vehicle business sector team. She will manage high-profile accounts with key motor manufacturer partners.

Stephanie Worrall joins the insurance marketing team at the group's Leeds centre. She previously was campaign manager for Yorkshire Electricity, where she was responsible for direct marketing campaigns.

Milliman UK
Milliman UK announces the appointment of John O'Neill as senior consultant and actuary. He has a brief to develop the Lloyd's and London Market practice and was previously a director of Terra Nova Insurance Company and chief actuary at Markel International.
