Emily Wilks has been appointed to the newly created post of intermediary research analyst at Ecclesiastical. Wilks will concentrate on research within the UK general business market, including the development of a new strategic plan for the management of brokers and cost reduction programmes. She has been with Ecclesiastical since 1997.
The Underwriter Insurance Company
David Murray has been appointed claims controller for the professional indemnity portfolio of business at The Underwriter Insurance Company. He was formerly managing director of the liability division of Crawford & Co.
Answar
Non-profit sector insurer Answar has announced the appointment of Duncan Tuffrey as regional manager for the South-West. Previously he was a commercial lines business developer with Allianz Cornhill.
GE Mortgage Insurance
Laurence Wale has been appointed vice president and managing director of GE Mortgage Insurance, Europe. He also joins the board of directors of GE Capital Mortgage (UK).
Based in London, Wale will be responsible for leading GE Mortgage Insurance's business across Europe. His role will cover the existing businesses and operating units while maximising opportunities to develop the company's operations across new European markets.
Opus
Fred Hucker has been promoted to operations director of Opus BusinessCare, a division of independent broking and financial services group Opus.
Hucker has 30 years' experience in the industry and was previously director of Opus Insurance Services, based in Norwich.
Acturis
Simon Ronaldson has joined Acturis as sales and marketing manager. He has a wealth of experience in the broker market gained while working for Commercial Union (now CGNU) and most recently as the lead financial services analyst at Datamonitor.
Chase IT Services
Chase, IT specialist for the protection and indemnity insurance industry, has appointed Elaine Verhaag as client account manager. Previously, Verhaag spent six years working for software provider Sherwood International as an implementation project manager and business analyst. Prior to that, she was a commercial underwriter for Royal London.
The Beckett Group
Keith Isherwood has been promoted to managing director of independent risk management and financial services adviser The Beckett Group. He has been finance director for the past two years. Previously, he held senior positions with NCA Group and Burberrys.
Weightmans
Law firm Weightmans has appointed work-related injury specialist Steve Woods to its Manchester team. He was previously with Bolton-based firm Keogh's and is an expert in insurance cases featuring work-related claims, in particular call centre deafness, stress, repetitive strain injury and asbestos.
Chaucer Holdings
Chaucer Holdings has announced two appointments. Chris Forbes joins as a non-executive director of Chaucer Holdings and Chaucer Syndicates. He has more than 20 years' experience in the Lloyd's Market, most recently as managing director of Faraday Underwriting. Malcolm Cox joins as a non-executive director of Chaucer Syndicates.
He has more than 30 years' experience in the Lloyd's Market and from 1986 to 2000 was active underwriter for syndicate 990, managed by Denham Syndicate Management.

ISO has appointed Mark Strang as account executive. He will focus on account management and marketing and will drive sales for the firm's Claims Outcome Adviser claims management solution. He has more than 12 years' experience in the insurance and IT industries.
