John French has been appointed marketing manager at Markel syndicate 702. He was previously at London & Edinburgh, now part of Norwich Union. For the last 17 years French has specialised in developing and marketing products and services to the commercial lines marketplace. The new marketing team at 702 includes Alexandra Rocca (R&D), Mandy Smith (specialist marketing services), and Vicky Fisher (solicitor).

Thomas, Carroll Group has employed 14 insurance professionals. Among them, Matthew Maynard joins the executive team.

Hall & Clarke
Tim Stemp has been appointed managing director of Hall & Clarke, which runs broker schemes for aviation, commercial and cherished car. He previously worked for Guardian Insurance.

Miller Insurance Group
Howard Pearson, head of the Miller Insurance Group's UK business risks unit, has been appointed chairman of the newly formed south east region of the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).
The new region covers all Biba members south of the Thames from Kent to the M3 and replaces three previous areas.

Wayne Bruce has joined the Grimsby branch of the carpet cleaning and disaster restoration franchise, Rainbow International. He will be assisting the franchise owner Graham Precious. Bruce previously worked for nearly three years in the Middle East as operations manager for EPSCO.
