Ben Welsh has been appointed director of communications and marketing services for Norwich Union. He joins the insurer from Anglian Water where he was head of corporate affairs. In his new role Welsh will develop the communications and marketing services of Norwich Union.
Direct Line
Kate Lotts has been appointed head of technical claims at Direct Line. Her job will focus on managing personal injury, litigation and household claims. Lotts began her career at Commerical Union in 1981, before moving on to CGU and Norwich Union.

Amy Battle has been appointed corporate research officer at Ecclesiastical Insurance. She will analyse trends in the insurer's target market in the UK and overseas for affinity partnerships.

Sarah Whyte has been appointed senior consultant at Manchester-based private medical insurance consultants Manson Warner Healthcare. She will develop the company's client base in the south of England. Whyte has 11 years experience in medical insurance.

Company. He has previously held a number of regional and international positions with the company.

John Hamblin has been appointed property catastrophe and aviation reinsurance underwriter for Cathedral Syndicate 2010 at Lloyd's. He has 25 years experience at Lloyd's and was previously active underwriter at Limit Syndicate 566.

Martin Noone has been appointed head of intermediary sales at BUPA.

Stephen Paddison has been appointed property underwriter at specialist insurer and reinsurer Trenwick International. He has company market experience most recently as European property manager at Reliance National Insurance.

Mike Potts has been appointed president of insurance software firm Jacada. He is joined by Mike Warner, appointed director of worldwide channels and Bill Sawyer, appointed manager for the company's operations in UK and Ireland.

Mark Grant has been appointed ecommerce commercial manager for financial adviser software firm Synaptic Systems. He was formerly a corporate account manager at Misys.

Paul Brennan has been appointed legal counsel for software anti-piracy organisation FAST. A barrister, he will be responsible for enforcement, lobbying and prosecutions. Peter Kay also joins FAST as a managing consultant, developing courses in information security and software compliance.

David Waldron has been appointed partner in London law firm LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene and MacRae for its insurance dispute resolution team. He has specialised in insurance and reinsurance litigation at the firm for the past five years.

Tom Anderson has been appointed managing director of Miller Firstline, Miller Fisher's third party administration division. Anderson joins the company from Assurant Group, a Fortis company, where he was managing director of its UK and European operation.
