NIG
Joanna Bushell is appointed account executive in the London office of the National Insurance and Guarantee Corporation (NIG). She has been promoted from the company's Peterborough office.
She has worked in the insurance industry for seven years. Prior to joining NIG she was a motor and household underwriter at Groupama.

AEGIS
Aegis Energy Syndicate 1225 has appointed a team of four underwriters for the 2001 year of account.
These are Paul Dawson, John Chambers, David Croom-Johnson and Richard Palengat who all join the Aeigis syndicated from Janson Green syndicate 79.Dawson will be the syndicate deputy and will be responsible for the energy account. Chambers will be responsible for developing a non-marine property portfolio which will be new to the syndicate. Croom-Johnson will be responsible for the marine liability account. Palengat will have responsibility for hull and the marine short-tail account.

Chubb Europe
Chubb Europe has made four new appointments. Andrew Russell is appointed property owners underwriter, UK and Ireland. He was previously property owners and regional underwriting manager for Norwich Union/London and Edinburgh. Karen Martin is appointed senior property underwriter, London. She has more than ten years experience in the commercial property market. Richard Lambert is promoted to casualty practice leader, UK and Ireland. He was previously manager of Chubb's Lloyd's casualty operations. He joined Chubb in 1996. Mark Appleton is appointed manager, risk managed accounts, UK and Ireland. He was previously casualty practice leader.

AIG Europe
AIG Europe has made two new appointments. Chris Townsend is appointed vice president with responsibility for mergers and acquisitions business across the UK, Ireland and continental Europe.
He will be heading up a new mergers and acquisitions group to be based in London. He joined AIG in January 1991. Phil Sharpe is appointed vice president of UK primary and excess casualty operations. He was previously assistant general manager at Axa Global Risks – non marine underwriting. He has 21 years of casualty underwriting experience

Folgate
Roger Gray is appointed deputy commercial underwriting manager at Folgate with special responsibility for casualty lines. Prior to joining Folgate he was the senior regional underwriting manager for Lombard Insurance Company, a position that also involved control of its scheme business.
Gray began his insurance career with the Commercial Union as a fire and accident underwriter, moving to the Orion Insurance Company in 1974 to start its underwriting branch in Birmingham before becoming its head office property underwriter.

Generali Worldwide
Mark Colton is appointed general manager at Generali Worldwide and its subsidiary Generali International. He will assume responsibility for the life assurance of the two Guernsey-based offshore life companies. He was previously appointed company actuary for Generali Worldwide in 1996 and assumed the same role for its subsidiary.

insurE-com has made three new appointments. Chris Newman is appointed business development manager. He has more than 14 years experience in the insurance industry. He joins from Drake Insurance where he was IT implementation manager. Dan Francis is appointed senior business analyst. He has eight years of experience in the insurance industry and is an ecommerce expert. Paul Wishman is appointed business analyst. He also has eight years experience in the insurance industry. He was previously product build executive, responsible for product creation and evaluation of new initiatives.

Brokers

Jardine Lloyd Thompson
Jardine Lloyd Thompson has made three senior appointments. Patrick Carey joins JLT corporate risks new business team as development director, based in London. He previously worked at Willis Group handling its new business development. David Rose also joins JLT corporate risks as assistant director in Birmingham. He will be the senior broker for the branch. He joins from Willis Group where he worked as “market maker”.Laura Hammond has been appointed marketing director for JLT UK. She was previously marketing manager for two years at Jardine Reeves Brown. She will be based in JLT UK's London offices.

Specialist Liability Services
Ron Weatherby is appointed director of Specialist Liability Services. He will be based in Manchester. He was previously branch manager of the Garwyn Mold office.

Other

Drive Assist UK
Chris Wright is appointed finance director at Drive Assist UK. Steve Binch takes up the position of chairman of the company, and the former finance director Stuart Woolley has taken position as chief executive. Wright joins the board of directors as finance director.
