Liberian Registry
Scott Bergeron is appointed maritime operating officer at the Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry, the managing company for the Liberian Registry. He will take over from Jerry Smith who
will remain at LISCR as a consultant. Bergeron has been quality manager for Laurin Maritime since 1993.


DJ Marshall & Others
John Grant is appointed to syndicate 839 DJ Marshall & Others. He will join Graham Young in underwriting the fine art account on September 4. He has many years of experience in the Lloyd's market from being a broker with Blackwall Green to being the fine art and jewellers block underwriter with Cassidy Davis Syndicate Management – syndicate 582.


Lloyd's Agents
Sonja Fink is appointed new controller of Lloyd's Agents. She will take over from existing controller Mike Stott who is retiring at the end of October.Fink is an independent marine insurance consultant who began her career as a maritime lawyer, having qualified in the Supreme Court of South Africa.


Swiss Re
Swiss Re has appointed two new non-executive directors to the board of Swiss Re GB and its operating companies Swiss Re Life & Health and Swiss Re UK. Jacques Dubois, a member of the executive board of Swiss Re and deputy head of the group's global life and health division, and Peter Ward, president of the Insurance Institute of London and chairman of Pool Re, have both taken on the new roles with immediate effect.


NIG
Matthew Purser is appointed website and intranet developer at NIG. His main responsibility is the development of NIG's website, www.nig-uk.com He was previously systems analyst at SmithKline Beecham.


Groupama
Groupama has appointed two new senior business managers. David Blakemore is appointed business manager in the personal insurances team. He will be leading and developing operations in the southern regions. He brings with him experience in customer relationship management from previous positions at organisations including Axa and Aon Risk Services. Chris Mingham is appointed personal insurances business manager for the Midlands and Northern regions. He joined Groupama earlier this year. He has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. They will both work under the direction
of Lloyd Hanks.

Devitt Insurance Services
Bernard Marsh is appointed to Devitt Insurance Services board of directors. He joined Devitt seven years ago and is now responsible for managing both motor and household divisions.


Alliance Insurance Management
Kelly Minnis is apppointed account manager at Alliance Insurance Management. She previously worked for Lloyd's broker McCall Group as a manager in its retail department.


Ward Evans
Beverley Webster is appointed group director at Ward Evans. She was previously managing director of Webster Schaeff & Company. She has an OBE received in the Queen's New Year's Honours List for services to the coal industry.


Loss adjuster

Yvonne Marley is appointed senior client manager at The 1 Group. She previously worked for Marsh Credit where she took on the role of assistant director. She is a graduate member of
the Institute of Export.


GAB Robins
Max Dunworth is appointed regional service centre director for Leeds at GAB Robins. He was previously manager of Crawford & Company's operation in Sheffield and Humberside.


Claims People Limited
Jeremy Baker is appointed technical director of Claims People Limited, the loss adjusting arm of the Claims People Group. Baker is a qualified chartered loss adjuster who will be based at the Bristol Operations Centre. He was previously associate director at the Miller Fisher Group.

Berrymans Lace Mawer
Frank Lewitt is appointed finance director at Berrymans Lace Mawer. He has previously worked at News International and National Power.


Smith and Williamson Group
Sally Hassell is appointed forensic partner
in the Whetstone office of the Smith and Williamson Group.
She was previously a partner with Grant Thornton and has been operating as a sole practitioner since January 1999.


James Chapman
James Chapman has appointed two new partners. They are Sue Drinkwater and Quentin Underhill.
Drinkwater joined James Chapman in May 1998. She specialises in advising some of the UK's largest insurers on high-value employers' liability claims. Underhill joined the company in June 1999. He specialises in high-value public and employers' liability claims, health and safety prosecutions and claims involving coroners' work and fatal accidents on behalf of insurance companies.

Shadbolt has appointed new partners.
Hugh Bryant and Reg Bench have both joined from niche aviation marine and insurance law practice Bryant Hamilton.


Acoat Bodyshop Services
Kevin Hesketh is appointed technical services manager at Acoat Bodyshop Services. He previously worked for Direct Line Insurance as regional engineering manager for the north-west.


Zurich
Peter Op de Beeck is appointed chief executive officer of Audatex Holdings GmbH, Zurich.
His appointment follows the retirement of Zeno Amrein who has led the company for 20 years. Op de Beeck will also replace Amrein on the Board of Audatex (UK). Op de Beeck has managed IT enterprises across Europe, led some major acquisitions and founded and managed ONLINE INTERNET, a Belgium based internet service provider.
