Mike Palmer is appointed business development manager at Aon Group Limited Claims Consultancy. He has more than 18 years' experience in the industry and has been a key player in the development of AGLCC over the past few years.

Smart and Cook
Simon Beers is appointed group IT manager at Yorkshire-based Smart and Cook. He is responsible for overseeing computer operations throughout the group.

Litigation Protection Limited
Litigation Protection Limited makes three appointments. Mark Cartwright is appointed management accounting and IT manager. Debbie Brown is appointed administration manager. Colin Heriot is appointed funding manager.

Linaker (Western)
Keith Johnson is appointed to the board of directors of Bristol-based broker Linaker (Western) Limited, part of the Linaker Group. He will be concentrating on motor risk management, environmental impairment insurance as well as general commercial insurance.

Fortis Insurance
Cathie Bruce is appointed sales and marketing director with Fortis Insurance. She will play a key role in the development and future growth of the new company launched in April when Bishopsgate and Northern Star merged under one name. Bruce was previously with brokers Marsh in Liverpool.

Zurich Corporate Solutions
Gareth Bradburn is appointed chief executive officer of Zurich Corporate Solutions. He brings more than 26 years of experience to the position, 24 of them with Swiss Re. He was previously president and chief executive officer of the International Risk Management Group (IRMG) in Bermuda.

Chester Street Insurance Holdings
Philip Grant is appointed chief executive of Chester Street Insurance Holdings, formerly Iron Trades. This follows the sale by Holdings in February of Iron Trades to QBE. Grant, a qualified lawyer, has 20 years' experience in insurance and reinsurance, 14 of which were spent with the Skandia Group. He has particular experience of managing run-off operations in insurance.

QBE Underwriting Agency
James Winn is appointed underwriter for property treaty reinsurance at MJ Harrington syndicate (2000), under QBE Underwriting Agency. He was previously with Underwriters Re, Bermuda.

Motor claims firm Town & Country Assistance makes five new appointments. Clare Patten is appointed marketing manager. Dianne Collins and David Hayward (standing, right) are appointed deputy claims managers. Jason Balls (seated, left) is appointed assistant claims managers. Justin Stoggell (seated, right) is appointed finance controller.

Tillinghast-Towers Perrin
Richard Shaw and John Charles are appointed consultants in the London property casualty practice of actuaries Tillinghast-Towers Perrin. Shaw was previously at Swiss Re New Markets in Zurich. Charles was previously at AGF.

Sampo Industrial Insurance
Sampo Industrial Insurance has created three new roles. Paul Johnson is appointed marketing manager, based in London. He has been with Sampo for six years and was previously at Cigna. Peter Rogers is appointed engineering manager, also in London. He has worked with Sampo since 1996 and previously spent ten years at Eagle Star and 16 years at British Engine. David Martin joins Sampo's recently established Birmingham office as a regional casualty underwriter. He has previously been with Aon and ITT London and Edinburgh.

Chartered Insurance Institute
James Fogg is appointed President of the Leicester branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Fogg, who is an account executive with Beckett Remington Collins in New Walk, is, at the age of 30, the youngest ever president of the institute. He has pledged to keep a local CII examination centre in Leicester rather than see it transferred to Birmingham.
