Jardine Lloyd Thompson has appointed Ron Hayes as managing director of the global risk solutions division of Jardine Lloyd Thompson.

Hayes was until recently head of european retail placement at Marsh.

He has has broad ex-perience in designing insurance and alternative risk financing programmes for major UK and international corporations.

Insurer

St. Paul Travelers

Sir John Carter has been appointed non executive chairman of St. Paul Travelers.

Carter was previously chief executive of Commercial Union.

Allianz

Allianz has appointed three new risk consultants to its UK office.

Maarten van der Zwaag is a senior risk consultant, a position he held in the Netherlands with Allianz Risk Consultants BV.

Chris Brierley is a senior risk consultant.

He has 17 years’ experience in the New Zealand fire service, where he specialised in fire risk management.

Kevin Kaye is highly experienced in assessing fire risks and emergency planning issues having spent over 30 years as a professional fire officer, rising to the rank of divisional commander.

Allianz has also appointed Jon Gundry as its new pensions manager.

His role will include running the in-house benefits depart-ment and managing the outsourced administrators of the company’s pension scheme.

Dual

Dual Corporate Risks has appointed Antony Hope as Directors’ & Officers’ (D&O) underwriter to support its D&O book.

Hope joins from HSBC Insurance Brokers where he spent 11 years specialising in D&O and management liability, both in the UK and Bermuda.

QBE

Doron Grossman has been appointed to the board of QBE Insurance (Europe).

Responsible for managing QBE’s activities in European markets, Grossman is an experienced broker and underwriter.

He joined QBE in 2000 as the deputy general manager for QBE’s Hungarian operation, where he was soon promoted to the role of general manager.

Weightmans

Weightmans has announced details of three appointments.

Sian Evans joins from JST Lawyers. Evans joins the commercial dispute resolution team as a partner.

She specialises in property disputes and has particular expertise in the housing sector.

Mike Pope has also been made a partner.

He joins from Keoghs where he was a partner for 8 years. Pope will be based at Weight-mans’ Manchester office.

Mike Simpson joins as a partner. He joins from Browne Jacobson. Simpson’s focus is predominantly on claims of the utmost severity, such as spinal injuries, paralysis andserious head injuries.

CLB Littlejohn

CLB Littlejohn Frazer has promoted financial services specialist, John Needham, to partner.

His promotion brings the number of partners in the firm’s financial services division to five.

Needham has worked with clients in the London insurance market for seven years.

Punter Southall

Punter Southall has recruited John Dean from HSA to the newly created role of head of health and risk consulting.

Dean will lead a brand new value proposition to grow the company’s client offering.

EMB

Duncan Anderson has joined EMB as a partner. He joins from Watson Wyatt.

Gocompare.com

Gocompare.com, has expanded its team with three new appointments.

Nicholas Hall joins the company as retail marketing manager, while Ceri Rudman joins as business account manager. Lynsey Walden joins as PR manager.

Hall has over 12 years’ experience in the marketing industry and will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the marketing strategy for the company.

Rudman brings over five years experience in the insurance industry.

She will be responsible for managing relationships with the company’s panel of insurers.

Walden will manage the company’s PR activity. She joins from Lloyds TSB Insurance.

Charles Taylor

David Royle has recently joined Charles Taylor’s team of specialist loss adjusters.

Before entering loss adjusting in 1990 he worked as a consulting engineer specialising in design and supervision of heavy civil engineering projects, with particular emphasis on maritime works.

He will be based in their Dubai office.
