Broker

Layton Blackham Business Solutions

Layton Blackham Business Solutions (LBBS) have appointed Joy Burns and Simon Potter as additional account managers to look after its network of partner brokers.

Burns has many years of experience within insurance and was recently a training co-ordinator for a personal lines insurance broker.

Potter has been heavily involved in supporting and developing the broker user interface of IT systems. He has vast experience in training, project management and account management within OpenGI and Countrywide.

Cooper Gay

The Cooper Gay Group has appointed Iain Pickard as chief operating officer of Cooper Gay’s UK arm.

Pickard will report to, and support, UK chief executive officer James Summers in managing the London operations.

Pickard was previously chief operating officer of the UK retail business at Marsh.

Insurer

ABC Insurance

ABC Insurance has announced three appointments to its regional office in Croydon.

David Truckle and Colin Janes have been appointed as regional sales executives with responsibility for business development and broker relationship management.

Truckle joins from Allianz Insurance where he was business development man-ager at their Woking office.

Janes was previously key account manager at AXA in Maidstone and has over 30 years’ experience working for AXA, Allianz Cornhill and United Standard.

Metesh Kakad also joins the Croydon team as an under-writer, from AIG.

Illium Insurance

Illium has announced that Paul Baynham has taken overall responsibility for the company’s employers’ liability, third party, products liability and contractors’ all risks business.

HSBC

HSBC has appointed Christen Schnor as head of insurance with responsibilities for the UK, Turkey, the Middle East and Malta.

He will be responsible for covering the general insurance, reinsurance, pensions, actuarial consultancy and global broking businesses.

Schnor joins from the Winterthur Group.

Assurant Solutions

Assurant Solutions has appointed Catherine Lynas as business development manager.

She will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities in the payment protection and warranty markets.

Lynas joins from Affinion International, a global affinity marketing business, where she held the role of client development director.

Hiscox

Hiscox has announced the appointment of Derrick Potton as regional manager of its Colchester branch.

Potton has over ten years’ experience in the UK insurance industry, and joins from Chubb, where he led the Reading-based specialty lines team.

At Hiscox, he will be responsible for the under-writing commercial and personal lines business in Cambridgeshire, Essex, East Anglia, Hertfordshire and Kent.

Legal

Silverbeck Rymer

Silverbeck Rymer has appointed Carole McGuinness as the new head of call centre operations.

McGuinness joins from Barclays Bank where she was a regulated learning consultant.

Berrymans Lace Mawer

Berrymans Lace Mawer has recruited two new partners, Stephen Hazleton and Roger Brooks.

Hazleton joins the firm’s Birmingham office while Brooks will be based in Manchester .

Davies Lavery

Davies Lavery has appointed Claire Bowler to partner in the catastrophic injury team.

Bowler joined Davies Lavery in 2006 and acts for a number of UK and European insurers – her caseload is almost exclusively catastrophic injury claims.

Watson Wyatt

Watson Wyatt has appointed Andrew Coulter to its insurance and financial services practice.

Coulter will be head of sales for VIPitech.

GAB Robins

GAB Robins has announced the appointment of Mark Pierce as UK corporate account director.

Pierce rejoins GAB Robins to assume this senior management position, responsible for maintaining and growing the company’s UK Corporate Clients services.

Pierce rejoins having worked over the past few years as the sales and customer relations director at The Source and WNS Assistance. He had previously worked for GAB Robins for 17 years.

Profile: William Rogers

William Rogers Insurance Brokers has appointed Sue Parsons as a personal insurance account handler.

Parsons has worked within the insurance industry for over 15 years. She has previously worked for both national and local high street insurance brokers.

Sue’s bubbly personality will ensure that our reputation for friendly and efficient service continues long into the future.”
