Lloyd's insurer GoshawK has announced the appointment of Chris Fagan as group chief executive.
Fagan joined Goshawk in 1999 as group finance director, and was also appointed chief operating officer recently.
He will succeed Andrew Gammell who has held the position since 1981.
The group said that Gammell is giving up his position in order to devote more time to his roles as group underwriting director and chairman of GoshawK Reinsurance, the group's Bermudan subsidiary.
Chairman David Hooker said: "I am particularly pleased to be able to announce Chris Fagan's appointment as chief executive. He has done a great deal since joining the group three years ago and has all the qualifications to assume the leadership of the group.
"This will allow Andrew Gammell to focus exclusively on the development and oversight of the group's underwriting."
