Road safety charity Brake's fleet safety forum has set up a working group in a bid to reduce the 100,000 accidents in the UK each year involving business vehicles.

The working group will bring together fleet risk management service providers to improve fleet management procedures, driver safety and vehicle specification and maintenance.

Brake chief executive Mary Williams said: "By launching the working group, we hope to put risk management on a fully professional footing and raise awareness of best practice fleet risk management."

Risk auditor Risk Answers is the first company to take part in the group.

Risk Answers operations and finance director Chris Howell said the group would result in the fleet risk management and driver training industries speaking "with one voice".

"This has not happened before," he said.
