Guy Carpenter has announced the appointment of Ray Carless as executive chairman of its Australia, New Zealand and Pacific operations.

Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, Carless, 51, spent 18 years with Benfield Australia. During his time with the company, he served on the Group board for ten years, among other appointments. From 1986 to 2000, he was leader of Benfield's Australian and New Zealand operations.

Martin Burrough, CEO of the Asia Pacific Region, said: "Over his career, Ray has built deep relationships with leaders across both the industry and the region, and his reputation for strategic focus is second to none.

"Ray's managerial experience, energy and expertise will provide real value as we continue to expand our operations across the region."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
