Credit hire company Helphire has revamped its board, with Mark Jackson taking over as chief executive and Michael J Symons becoming executive deputy chairman.

Jackson was formerly deputy chief executive and Symons was chief executive. Jackson said: “The truth of the matter is that Michael and I have shared the running of the company and this is just a formalisation.”

The company said the move best utilised the skills of the two. Symons is a lawyer and Jackson was a GP before joining Helphire full-time in 1999.

Helphire also confirmed that it had begun a three-month trial with the AA of no-fault accident management services to some of the AA's insurance customers.

A new subscription product called Theftsure is being trialled. This provides a replacement vehicle for up to 12 weeks in cases of car theft. Premiums are based on geographical location and car type.
