Iain Saville is the first head of business process reform at Lloyd's. Saville will report to Lloyd's chief executive Nick Prettejohn.
Lloyd's said Saville's role would be to continue and integrate the initiatives developed by Lloyd's aimed at improving business processes.
As part of the new position, Saville has been appointed chairman of Kinnect, which Lloyd's said would deliver major efficiencies for risk placing in the Lloyd's market.
Saville previously worked for the Bank of England and was chief executive of CREST, the stand-alone share settlement system.
Prettejohn said the appointment of Saville was a clear indication of Lloyd's determination to provide efficient and modern business processes and to improve customer service standards.
