Northcliffe Newspapers will offer a free healthcare benefit from Healthsure Group as part of an improved employment package. Newspaper group general manager Michael French said the offer was made after a survey of its 8,500 staff rated a heathcare benefit as an employment priority. "Cashplans offer something for everyone," he said. "The perceived value by our staff far outweighs the cost of providing them."

Club Direct's travel policy for single-parent families has proved to be its most popular product ever. Since its launch three months ago, the number of lone parents taking family travel insurance with Club Direct has almost quadrupled. There are 1.6 million single parent families in Britain.

The Check-Out and Oasis schemes are underwritten by Axa Insurance and feature similar characteristics, such as cover for stock deterioration, goods in transit, glass, contents damage, money and extensive liability. Check-Out was designed for retailers and Oasis was aimed at owners of pubs, cafés, bars, take-aways and restaurants, so both have several extensions that are applicable to specific industries.
