John Hastings-Bass, chairman of JLT's international retail broking operations, is to leave the group at the end of December 2006.

JLT said he will step down from the board with immediate effect, but will remain a member of the group's executive committee.

Hastings-Bass said he had decided to “look for new opportunities."

The broker said chief executive, Dominic Burke will assume the responsibility at board level for the group's Latin American and Canadian operations.

Board responsibility for JLT's Asia Pacific businesses continues with Brian Carpenter, CEO of Asia Pacific.

Geoffrey Howe, chairman of JLT, said: “We would like to thank John for his significant contribution to the JLT Group over more than 20 years including 9 years as a main board director, he leaves our international businesses in good health.”
