Thomas, Carroll Group
Thomas, Carroll Group is delighted to have been recognised in the Large Broker of the Year category of these prestigious UK awards for its all round business excellence.
"It's the people, stupid" was one headline we used to explain why this has been such a successful year for Thomas, Carroll. We believe in employing the best, providing the environment to maximise staff potential, show them a vision and provide due reward.
This strategy enabled us to attract, and indeed retain, the best, as was evidenced by our successful graduate recruitment programme and main board recruitment.
It is through this investment in our people that we can meet the expectations of our clients. Measuring perception of our service has been key. Here we were able to demonstrate a sophisticated approach to relationship management and identifiable improvements - as judged by our clients.
Thomas, Carroll Group recognise the importance of, and remain committed to, working in partnership with insurers for our current and future success.
Having has just topped 1.5 million personal lines policies for the first time in a decade, it's surprising to find one of Britain's oldest and largest brokers, not just surviving, but flourishing in a competitive market alien to its very existence.
This year has seen the inexorable growth of direct insurers, internet insurance and supermarket spraw, but it has also seen the closure of the second-largest UK high-street broker network and the transfer of thousands of jobs offshore.
So, as the last of the mega high-street chains to prosper in such an environment, Swinton is an outstanding candidate for the Large Broker of the Year award.
However, it's been tough. The infrastructure has been modernised, the customer proposition and experience enhanced, productivity rocketed and profits are at record levels.
Being commended by the judges has really put the icing on the cake for Swinton. "It demonstrates that the efforts by all our teams in Swinton have, at long last, been recognised by the industry, and I'm sure our staff will walk that little bit taller when they hear the news," said Swinton chief executive Patrick Smith.
"There is clearly a place for brokers with a high-street presence that continues to deliver good prices and great personal service."
