The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) has appointed Andrew Kendrick as chairman.
Kendrick will announce his new deputy chairman at the next LMA Board meeting.
Kendrick succeeds Dane Douetil, group chief executive of UK general insurer, Brit Insurance, who has stepped down from the chairman's position in order to take on the position of chair of the Market Reform Group (MRG).
Douetil will continue to be a member of the LMA board.
The LMA said that during his term in office, Kendrick will concentrate on effective liaison for the market with the Franchise Board, the continued drive for modernisation of London market processes and further developing the campaign for transparency of broker remuneration whilst strengthening relationships with the broking community.
Kendrick said: “Recent developments in the regulatory arena and the record hurricane season of 2005, leading to the unprecedented set up of off-shore markets, have had a huge impact on the market.
"It is crucial that LMA members, the franchisor and our partners in the London market work together to maintain and strengthen the capability and capacity of London, with Lloyd's playing a vital part.
In addition, Kendrick will lead the LMA in continuing to monitor issues as they arise and help to shape events and support managing agents in their response.
