Broker Marsh has appointed Brian Shaw to lead its UK public sector practice and help clients manage the change of the `modernising government' agenda.

Shaw will head a team of insurance and risk management professionals who provide a wide range of transactional and consultancy solutions to central government departments and executive agencies, local authorities, emergency services and social housing organisations.

Sean Finnegan, UK managing director of Marsh corporate client practice, said: "Shaw has over 30 years' experience in public sector insurance and risk management, including senior executive positions with a public sector insurer in the UK and Australia.

"The public sector is an important area of focus for Marsh and this appointment will help consolidate our leading position in the local government sector and provide a platform for developing our profile with central government."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
