Marsh has appointed Iain Pickard as its UK Retail chief operating officer.
Pickard, a former Colonel in the British Army, will have responsibility to identifying, developing and implementing new business solutions. He will report directly to Marsh's UK Retail chief executive Toby Foster.
Pickard was recently stationed in Iraq as head of public affairs for the Southern Region, and prior to that was a team leader for Iraq risk analysis and assessment in the Defence Intelligence Staff, working alongside the US Defence Intelligence Agency.
Prior to that, Pickard was operations officer for the Nato Rapid Reactions Headquarters in Sarajevo.
Marsh's UK Retail business encompasses its UK-based brokerage and risk consulting operations outside its specialty lines.
