CGNU has reported a bumper 24% increase in new business for the first six months of 2000.

According to the first figures to be released since CGNU was created from the merger of Norwich Union and CGU last February, new business has grown to £3.7bn.

CGNU is now the leading provider to the independent financial advisor market, providing one in 10 of all savings and pensions products.

CGU and Norwich Union will continue to operate as separate groups until a single marketing group is launched in October.
