The Motoring Uninsured Loss Recoveries Association (MULRA) has confirmed its commitment to change.

It said that, subject to ratification at the annual general meeting in May, it will fall into line with GISC regulatory requirements, introduce a complaints service for brokers, and realign its aims and objectives.

MULRA's said its Code of Practice will also be strengthened, with potential penalties for transgressors.

It announced that from now on it will actively recruit new members in the BTE (before-the-event) market.

It added that it will probably change its name to reflectits new broader remit.

Association Chairman David Haynes commented: "The entire membership approves the principle of broader scope and objectives for the Association. This reflects the need to encourage professionalism wherever we can.

"We shall directly target new members, initially those with an interest in the ULR market. Our aim is to become inclusive not exclusive, welcoming a wide level of participation in our lobbying and enforcement of standards".
