The long-running legal saga between Lloyd’s and Names took a further – dare I say, final – twist this week.

Lloyd’s has been awarded a civil restraint order against a number of Names, preventing them from taking legal action against Lloyd’s unless they have explicit permission from the court.

It comes as no surprise that Lloyd’s has sought a judicial gag against the Names.

In the past decade, Lloyd’s has been dogged with claims from a number of Names who made various allegations of fraud and misrepresentation against Lloyd’s – all of which have been thrown out by a string of judges.

Yet the Names have proved remarkably persistent.

So what next for the Names? Protesting outside Lloyd’s may be the only course of action.
