Hardy Underwriting Agencies has appointed Sean Gates as its chairman, with effect from 1 January 2004, subject to approval from the FSA and Lloyd's.
It said the current chairman, Peter Hardy, would remain on the board for the immediate future.
Hardy group chief executive and managing director of Hardy Underwriting Agencies Barbara Merry said the group was delighted at Gates' appointment.
